Project Description:

Groundcheck was appointed by PT Ground Risk Management, a reputable geotechnical consultant, to undertake essential geotechnical drilling for the proposed bridge development of the coal hauling road in the Sungai Telen, Batu Ampar Area, Kalimantan Timur. Recognizing the significance of this project, Groundcheck mobilized two man-portable drilling rigs from our well-equipped Jakarta Workshop to the site, ensuring that we were fully equipped to carry out the task at hand.

The primary objective of this comprehensive study was to acquire geotechnical information and establish in situ geotechnical parameters essential for the design of the proposed development. In pursuit of this goal, our highly skilled team diligently executed a series of drilling operations. A total of eight boreholes were drilled, comprising six shore boreholes and two river boreholes. To facilitate river geotechnical drilling, we constructed two temporary timber platforms in the edge of  Telen River, serving as sturdy bases for our river drilling activities.

At Groundcheck, we understand the criticality of accurate data collection. To ensure the highest level of precision, our team employed the full coring method, extracting samples from all the boreholes. In addition to sample retrieval, we conducted Standard Penetration Tests (Uji SPT), a widely recognized in situ testing technique. The SPT results further enriched our dataset, contributing valuable insights into the soil’s properties and behavior. Moreover, recognizing the significance of undisturbed soil samples, we diligently collected Undisturbed Disturbed Samples (UDS) throughout the fieldwork, enabling a comprehensive analysis of the site’s geotechnical characteristics. To supplement the extensive data collection, our team also carried out four Cone Penetration Tests (Uji CPT) during the fieldwork period.

Throughout the project’s duration, Groundcheck remained steadfast in our commitment to prioritize health and safety protocols. Our team rigorously adhered to stringent guidelines, ensuring the well-being of both our personnel and the surrounding environment. Simultaneously, we diligently pursued efficiency, ensuring that the project progressed in a timely manner without compromising the quality of the data collected.

In summary, Groundcheck successfully executed the geotechnical drilling operations for the proposed bridge development in Sungai Telen, Batu Ampar Area.
