Project Description:

Groundcheck was appointed by PT Ground Risk Management to performed geotechnical drilling for work in Sorikmas gold mine area, in Mandailing Natal, North Sumatera. The site is located around 6 hours from Sibolga Airport. The drilling rig is mobilized from Jakarta by land transport (trucking). The geotechnical drilling were performed across the proposed development area.

The objective of this study is to obtain geotechnical information for the related gold mine infrastructure development. Two drilling rigs were mobilized for this work.

A total of 24 boreholes were performed in the across the proposed development area. All of the boreholes were drilled by means of full coring method and some in situ testing and sampling such as SPT (Uji SPT), UDS and falling head test were performed

The main challenge for this work is the access and the topographical existing condition, where make it very difficult for rig shifting between the boreholes. At the time of investigation, the area is still fairly remote and most of the boreholes were manually shifted.
