Project Description:

Groundcheck was commissioned by the esteemed Kayan Group to undertake a crucial geological investigation and soil testing project encompassing the access road area for the Sungai Kayan PLTA in Malinau, located in the Kalimantan Utara region. Notably, the soil investigation was conducted while earthwork and developmental activities were already in progress. The primary objective of this comprehensive undertaking was to acquire geotechnical and soil parameters, ensuring the road’s capacity while facilitating slope stability analysis.

To fulfill this significant task, Groundcheck efficiently mobilized soil testing equipment from Jakarta to the remote Malinau area. Groundcheck deployed one drilling rig, a complete set of Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) equipment, a dedicated CBR testing equipment, and a highly reliable Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) equipment.

With an unwavering commitment to precision and thoroughness, Groundcheck successfully executed a total of 30 boreholes, strategically positioned across the project area. Additionally, our diligent team performed dozens of surface in-situ tests utilizing the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP), providing comprehensive insights into the soil’s strength and compaction characteristics.
