Project Description:

Groundcheck was appointed by PT Resindo Resources and Energy to performed geotechnical and metallurgical drilling in Sangihe island, a small island located Northerner part of North Sulawesi. The site were accessed by using the boat from Manado. The geotechnical and metallurgical drilling services were carried at the proposed gold mining area.

The objective of this study is to obtain geotechnical data for the mine infrastructure development and provided additional metallurgical drilling sample for the proposed gold mine development. In oder to complete the work at the most cost efficient basis, only one drilling rig, YBM 03 was mobilized to performed both Geotechnical and Metallurgical borehole.  

Scope A total of thirteen (13) boreholes were drilled for this investigation. These thirteen borehole consist of 7 inclined boreholes were drilled and 6 geotechnical boreholes. In situ testing such as SPT (standard penetration test), UDS sampling and falling head test (permeability testing). The geotechnical laboratory were also under Groundcheck scope at this study (performed by our partner PT GWL).

The main challenge for this work is the difficulty for drilling the inclined boreholes. The stiff clay material extended up to 70 m below the surface is fairly challenging to drilling (as compare to rock). However, with our team understanding of Indonesia stratigraphy behaviour and correct usage of bentonite and polymer we accomplished all the working scope.
